Construction of the new $470 million Maitland Hospital by the NSW Government is underway in order to cater for the surrounding and growing communities.
The new hospital will be opening around early 2022.
The Neurological Rehabilitation Centre at Thornton is also currently under construction which is estimated to be completed by the end of 2020. The $2.6M funded center will contain a hydrotherapy pool, rehabilitation gym, a manufacturing room for custom orthoses, a medical intervention room, a complex wheelchair and seating showroom with private fitting rooms, and 31 accessible car parks.
The center will be constructed at the end of the M1 motorway, right next door to Alloggio, as Daniel Buck, founder of Neuro Alliance, told the Hunter Business Review, “…chose the site because it is next door to a hotel with disability accessible rooms that is being built by local hospitality group - Alloggio… The hotel accommodation will benefit people from out of the Hunter requiring extended care, and their families or carers.”
Neuro Alliance
Neuro Alliance provides medical and allied health services to anyone with a condition requiring complex rehabilitation. In late 2020 Neuro Alliance will open its state of the art Complex Rehabilitation Centre. The centre will cater for anyone with basic to complex therapy needs. Specialised services include the Allied Health Service, Neuromuscular Orthotics, Tone management clinic, and the Dizziness clinic. There will be a Neurorehabilitation gymnasium, fully accessible Hydrotherapy pool, multiple large therapy areas, a medical intervention room for Neurologist and Rehabilitation Medicine Specialist, a wheelchair seating clinic and showroom with ceiling hoist, architect designed in full accordance with the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines, neighbouring fully accessible accommodation (Alloggio Thornton), and currently a transitional clinic is set up at 3/17 Babilla Close, Beresfield, which has a fully accessible gym and consulting rooms.
